At Stream Hatchet, we focus on exploring live streaming platforms where both streamers and their viewers shape and reflect the popularity of various trends. But this is just one node in a vast interconnected world of forums, servers, and other gathering places. What can game publishers and brands learn by combining live streaming insights with insights from other communities?

For example, something like Discord.

Discord allows people with common interests to easily find each other, connect with each other in a more natural way, and interact directly through voice chat. And (though I hesitate to say it) Discord has a huge advantage over live streaming platforms. Members of a shared server often feel like they are on equal footing with each other. So it makes sense that brands and game publishers would want to know how their products are being discussed and promoted on Discord servers.

VRGE’s Community: A New Perspective on Discord – Written by Andrew Molchany of Dashscored

Expectations are a double-edged sword. Some of our fastest growing and most engaged servers this holiday season were those related to upcoming games. Fans have been waiting for updates!

However, some other games focus on long-term staying power. Related: Discord has remained low and stable with its overall membership count, with continued engagement with its peer community prioritized over raising expectations.

Discord users typically check out servers based on whether they’re interested in their topics, but everyone feels differently. At Dashscored, we use a multi-server analytics bot to dig deeper than these surface-level motivations and personal habits. We recently released a new way of thinking about Discord communities: a multidimensional system (hence VRGE) based on Vibe, Reach, Growth, and Engagement.

Placing a bot on your server or network of servers can give you deep insight into what’s going on in your community.

Even without bots, we applied a lightweight version of the VRGE framework to create leaderboards across approximately 5,000 servers with public invites.

vibrator Anything related to the tone and topic of the conversation is fine. Not just whether it’s friendly or toxic, but also whether it’s more competitive or cooperative, highly political left or right, formal or fan-driven, and so on.

arrival It is simply the membership size of the community server.

growth is a trend in size over time and can exhibit patterns such as steady growth, large explosions, churn and stability, or net decline. Most servers exhibit distinct periods of rapid growth, and these metrics help moderators find and understand those significant periods.

engagement The metrics all relate to how active your members are, both on Discord and on channels on your server, especially if you have Dashscored’s bot installed.

Similar to TV and movie ratings, Dashscored flags many categories. For example, here’s a large profile image server that Dashscored automatically flags as mature/nsfw.

This is obvious, but other flags indicate whether the server is political, uncooperative, commercial, exclusive, or narrowly focused.

Dashscored’s “exclusive” flag doesn’t necessarily mean people aren’t allowed in, it just means that the server caters to a very specific audience rather than the general public. For example, this Bitcoin-focused server is flagged as “exclusive” and “limited,” but it could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Examples of popular Discord communities

As we looked through the leaderboards for the holidays, our team identified eight interesting and fairly large communities with high levels of recent growth, chat participation, and a welcoming atmosphere. fellowship: The new title’s official Discord (playing in Early Access) has over 125,000 members, and while it’s not exactly a discovery, it’s been highlighted on the leaderboards for actively creating a positive, supportive atmosphere and seeing rapid growth in engaged members. The Arc team (the game’s publisher) explicitly asks for feedback on development, as well as open discussions, creating groups, and sharing tactics.

ClickSense RP: FiveM in Spanish (GTA V roleplay) server was launched in April 2023 and currently has approximately 11,000 members, “combining the gaming experience with the boundless creativity of the community.”

MapleStory SEA: With over 11,000 members and a high level of activity, this server just turned 9.^th It celebrates its anniversary in November and claims to be the largest community-driven project ever. maple story Southeast Asia server. In addition to the expected resource guides, conversations, and occasional giveaways, members also seem to be organizing physical gatherings and outings in the community. (MapleStory is one of the original side-scrolling MMORPGs).

Soul frame: Another hot topic, this is the official Discord for the highly anticipated release from Digital Extremes. The server has been running since 2022, but has recently rapidly grown to 135,000 members, no doubt growing towards its originally anticipated 2025 release date.

dedication: The official server for Ankama’s MMORPG, this 12,000-member server has been online since 2019 and continues to welcome players of all levels for general conversation, Q&A about gameplay, share your thoughts on updates, find other players in your group, and more.

Another group of enthusiastically participating community members is anime themed:

Anime Vanguard Trading Hub: Our coverage of this Discord community wouldn’t be complete without massive support. roblox But we’re not talking about the official Discord server with 1 million members. Trading Hub is a busy server with 30,000 members and a focus on reliable moderation to keep interactions safe and spammers out.

pocket anime: This server growth (to over 140,000 members) coincides with the November release of the game’s Phase 2 trailer. The open-world creature-collecting game has an existing fan base, and there’s been a lot of crossover buzz on YouTube and Reddit regarding Phase 2’s drops. This is truly a hype machine, and even invitations to the server are monetized. By Dashscored’s definition, this is a bit of a vibe killer.

Also, what I would like to emphasize is that indie studio Build your community with Discord.

Ad hoc studio: AdHoc’s just over a year old Discord currently has nearly 43,000 members listening to updates. express deliverytheir interactive “superhero workplace comedy.” Discord invites members to share fan art and discuss their favorite interactive narrative games, not just ad hoc games. This lends itself to a community-centered atmosphere.

The first one is just funny. I don’t know if you’d call it a bug or a feature, but Discord continued to recognize “Wallpaper Engine” as a game, and it ranked high on the holiday leaderboards. It was 6^th Most played games on Dashscored supported servers in December 2025, up from 8^th October 2025 and October 2017^th In November 2024.
